e-district project conceived under the National e-governance plans, aims at electronic delivery of Public Services enabling citizens to avail the services through Akshaya. These are the primary contact points and delivery channel for citizens to avail various Government Services and other information.

Out of the 640 districts in the country, 41 districts were taken up in the initial phase to implement the program .In Kerala, Kannur and Palakkad districts were chosen to be the pilot e-Districts.23 revenue certificate services have gone live in Kannur from 17th Dec 2010 and in Palakkad from 8th Feb 2011. Above 4.4 lakhs applications have processed via e-District in the pilot run, the highest number of transactions compared to other e-district pilot states.

At present, Kerala State IT Mission, rolled out implementation of the e-District Project to all the remaining 12 districts. The launch of 14 more services from Food and Civil Supplies, Election and RTI will enable better delivery of service to the common man.
